Brian Regan

I try not to be long winded with my posts... heck, I barely post, but this weekend was insane. I had planned a weekend getaway to see Brian Regan for Ben's birthday. The show was at 10:30pm and 2.5 hours away from home, so to make it easy on ourselves, I booked a night at a hotel. Ben scheduled these days off (Friday and Saturday) literally 2 months ago so we were good to go. Well, unexpectedly, a work disaster forced a trip out to Florida early on in the week. No problem, there is still plenty of time, right? Tuesday... Wednesday... Thursday... I'm starting to freak. Not only are we going to miss the show, but he's been forced to work several weekends out of town, and now if he can't even schedule time off in advance, it's becoming too intrusive.
Ben made it clear that whether this problem is fixed or not, he's coming home no later than Friday to see the show. Thank goodness his boss agreed for him to go home, and they were going to send someone else out to take over. The flight home was booked and he would be arriving around noon in SLC, I would pick him up, head off to Logan, and we would enjoy most of the day together. Sounds too simple, doesn't it? He missed his flight!!! After all of that, he missed his flight!!! He's panicked trying frantically to get another flight. Nothing is working out. He's finding flights online that the airport won't honor. He'll finally figure out some crazy combination of flights that get sold out right from under him. Finally... he's able to get a seat for $800, that, of course, wasn't transferable, but at least he's on his way home. By this time it's almost noon, and he has been up since 4:00am!!! His flight came in to SLC at 7:00pm (9:00 in Florida) He's so exhausted, he came out to the passenger pick up area, stopped right in front of his truck, and didn't recognize it!!! He's beyond tired, and hungry, so we stop for dinner at Z-tejas at the Gateway (Fabulous!!!) He, thank goodness, got an adrenaline rush from food and finally being home, so dinner was lovely. We headed off to Logan thinking we had plenty of time, until we realized we were an hour and a half from Logan and it was 9:30!!! We drove as fast as we could get away with, until we hit a dead stop for a good 10 minutes from an accident. I couldn't believe that after all of the trouble and expense to get home, we were looking at possibly missing the show. There is no way this was happening. We finally made it to the theater, we were shown our seats, and sat down just as the opening act finished his last joke and said "Now, let's hear it for Brian Regan!!!!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

The show got out at 12:30am (2:30am Florida time), which meant this was a 23 hour day for Ben. He survived, and it turned out to be an awesome weekend.

Finally, for no other reason, except that I'm a bit odd, the hotel bathroom was so cute. I don't think it has been touched since the 60's.

Girls Night

Jen, Bets, and I took a night for a quick bite and some catching up. Betsy had heard some good things about the Blue Lemon in Highland. It was fantastic. The food felt so gourmet, but the price point was low and the atmosphere casual. We got there at 5:00, and they basically had to kick us out at 10:00. Thanks for the fun night and girl talk ladies!!!

Valentine's Day

After getting all of the mundane errands of life done, (which shouldn't be allowed on valentine's day if you ask me) we spent the afternoon in Midway. First stop, lunch, at a highly rated Mexican restaurant called Tarahumara. It's located at 380 E Main in Midway, and it was wonderful.

After lunch, we were off to the Midway Ice Castles. 100 N 200 W and only $5 bucks a person. Everyone really should take an afternoon to check it out. Try to go at dusk to see the lights.

Finally, we stopped at the grocery store for tons of junk food and headed home for a scary movie. Paranormal Activity 2, which... was surprisingly good for a sequel.
