Day trip

A couple of weekends ago, Ben and I decided to go on a day trip instead of doing something productive around the house. He found this place in Salt Lake Called Gilgal. I had never heard of it, but my understanding of it is that it used to be someones backyard and this man created all of these stone sculptures. After he died, his backyard was made into a public park for anyone to see. If you weren't looking for it you would never find it. It's tucked back behind some old houses, but it's very interesting. Makes you wonder what inspired him to spend so much time to do this.

Afterward, we stopped at Moochies sandwich shop that was featured on the food networks Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Ben got the Philly Cheesestake and I indulged in the Meatball sub. They were both great! Turned out to be a really fun cheap day trip!

The things he puts up with

My Laundry room

I wanted to post my laundry room because I think it's so cute. I used a dark blue metallic paint that I love, and sassed it up with a zebra rug and the curly decals.

Did I mention the crowns on the doors? These were originally gold hooks I found at Alice Lane furniture. I cut the hook off and sprayed them silver.

It's just a little more fun to do laundry now.

Crystal Magnets

Well, mom and Bets requested a close up of my crystal magnets so......

My 2nd project of the day

I'm really excited about this. The top picture is from Pottery Barn. I spotted it several months ago and wanted to copy it. I was lucky enough to find the frames at a yard sale a few years ago. I think I paid a dollar for each of them. Stole pictures from a book on the bargain shelf and.... voila!

Stupid or Cool?

I "decorated" the side of my fridge today. LOL What do you think? I used some left over decals, that I love, and decided to break my rule of "less is more" and use them again. (I originally bought them for my laundry room, which I'll post later) I love that they are the same color as the fridge so it's very subtle. That's not all I did, though. My mom gave me a House Beautiful magazine that had JEWELED magnets. I loved that idea! So, for less than $10 I made 20. Not bad eh?

Unbelievable

I will admit right off the bat that I believe there should be a punishment when there is a crime. So, all you bleeding hearts out there can stop reading now. I was just informed by a client of mine who had recently spent some time in jail that it wasn't that bad because there is a new "CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM AND ALL THE MEALS WERE RESTAURANT QUALITY" Are you kidding me? I had a frozen dinner for lunch today that I had to pay for myself. I'm feeding the guy who broke into someones house restaurant quality food that he doesn't even have to pay for? How does this kind of thing happen? If they're getting college credit too, watch out. I'll be the person stealing your car.

Lunch

Okay, so my friend Lyndsey and I went to Zupas for lunch yesterday. As we're getting to the register there is an older man and his daughter behind us. The dad was being cute trying to push his way ahead of her, and she says "No, dad, I brought you here I'm paying" Well, I just don't know when to keep my mouth shut, so I said "Do you want to pay for me too?" She said "yes I do" and pushed herself ahead and paid for both mine and Lyndseys lunch. I was mortified!! I was hoping today that I would be over the embarrassment, but.....it's going to take more time. Good thing we didn't order dessert :)

Mom's Cooking Class

Okay, so I enjoy reading other peoples blogs when there is a picture. So... I scanned through the pictures I have access to right now and found the one from the cooking class....thus, a blog is born. It was so fun. My mom hosts a cooking class every month or so for the ladies in the ward. This last month she went all out. Prime Rib..... need I say more. I have never been a fan in the past, but this was roasted with the most amazing seasoning. Delish!!! None of that barely cooked, stick it with a fork and hear a Moo stuff. :)

Before the party ended we all posed for a picture with Roberto. For those of you who haven't met him, he is filling in for Robert while he's gone.

Robert's Birthday

Robert's birthday was back in August, but it was so funny I had to blog about it. I have this picture on my desktop. Robert is on the left and I'm on the right. The fight was brutal. Obscenities like "kung pow chicken" and "fried rice" were being thrown out like it was nothing. The fight lasted about.....20 seconds. Screaming and hopping backwards (I later learned) is not a good strategy. Look at him, though, I didn't have a chance.

The Body Museum

A couple weeks ago Robert, Lyndsey, Ben, and I went to the body museum up in Salt Lake. It was really amazing. Not for everyone, though, I do have to say. We had all gone to the haunted houses together a few weeks earlier and on the way there I was feeling more scared about THIS. For those of you who haven't heard about it... They are REAL bodies. There weren't very many full bodies, maybe 10 or so. Most were displays with different organs, but that wasn't as interesting to me. It was so amazing to see how everything goes together. They mentioned how compact the body is and I was surprised by how small the organs were in full size adults. When you start thinking about everything that fits into such a small area it is really amazing. It was really quiet and dark in the museum and everyone was very respectful. It was like being at a cemetery. Afterwards we went to Rodizio Grill for dinner. I know, we're sick. Too many of the meats reminded us of what we had just been looking at. Robert even ate a chicken heart which was actually on display in the museum. Gross.

Canada Cruise!!!

Well, I had to talk about the most amazing vacation ever. I can't put it off any longer. Ben and I went on the first Dr. Laura cruise ever. Now, whenever I mention "Dr. Laura" everyone thinks your poor husband, so if your thinking that right now, all that tells me is you haven't given her a chance. If you really listened to the program (knrs.com from 1:00-4:00) you would be feeling sorry for ME. She is an advocate for men. She is just wonderful and was hosting a cruise starting up in Vancouver and ending in San Diego. It was amazing. First of all, I couldn't believe the service. It was beyond expectation. To give you an idea... I got home and needed to use the little girls room and the first thing I thought was "I'm going to have to change my own toilette paper roll" I was spoiled to say the least.
Our ship was perfect. Spotless for one thing and only a few years old. None of that tacky 70's stuff. I had heard it was smaller than most, but I loved that about it. Everyone was so friendly and because the ship wasn't too big you would actually see people more than once.
The first day of the cruise I was just wanting to find Dr. Laura. I didn't have much luck. I had pretty much given up for the time being when Ben and I walked into the dining room just as she was walking out with her bodyguards ( I wasn't expecting that) I was in awe. She came over, gave me a hug and Ben a high 5 and continued walking. I could finally start enjoying the cruise. I don't get star struck about anyone. Actors, Athletes, etc are all over paid drugies who don't have a clue to what love or loyalty is. Dr. Laura has values.

My first blog

I've never been one to chat, instant message, text, or e-mail but I think I need to join the rest of the world, so here is my attempt. Did it take anyone else 3 hours just to get the background right? Anyway, I'm determined to figure it out on my own. I think I'm a 77 year old in a 27 year old body. Technology scares me. Lyndsey (friend/co-worker) and I are convinced we're the last people in America without an ipod. Is there anyone else out there?
